iPad 3 queue already
Already in line at Regent Street, London. I love their enthusiasm on a sunny but cold Thursday morning. 22 hours to go guys!!
Now I need a Retina cinema display!
Can’t wait to get our hands on the new retina display iPad here in the office an update some of our app graphics to make full use of that huge resolution. One thing in creating the graphics however is that now my huge Apple cinema display is not big enough to show the whole iPad 3 retina screen!!
Come on Apple, let one of the many things you are planning this year be a retina cinema display!!
iPad 3 rumor roundup
We always love the hype and buzz of an upcoming Apple event, and coming into full swing now is the iPad 3.
We have read a lot, and sometimes we are really surprised at the comments and insight of tech journalists out there! Here is a quick roundup of what we think is in, and out of the iPad 3:
- Retina display: Of course. Without a doubt. It will be there and it will look amazing.
- Faster processor: Certainly, not sure why people write this as news it’s so obvious!
- Dual Core / Quad Core: Lots of people championing the fact the iPad 3 will be quad core, but I’m not convinced. I’d say it’ll be dual core, and they’ll gain the extra speed they need for pixel processing with a nice new GPU
- Better battery: Yes, but probably not by a lot. There’s going to be twice as many pixels to play with after all
- Siri: Yep, it’ll be here on iPad 3, I wouldn’t expect it to make it onto iPad 1, and probably not iPad 2…time for an upgrade!
- NFC: Not this time, Apple will hold out on this for the iPhone 5, and a more mature market
- Dual dock connectors: Not sure on this one…will Apple give in and put a dock on the side for landscape docks? I’m sticking my neck out and saying No, they won’t
- Thunderbolt port: No. Just no.
- More than one iPad 3: Speculation over different sizes is spreading, but I feel this is way off the mark
- Improved camera: For sure. They’ll pluck the tech from the 4 or even 4S and wedge it into the back of the iPad 3
- LTE / 4G: Tricky call this one, I wouldn’t think so, again they need to save some awesome features for the iPhone 5 later in the year.
That’s my summary for now, watch out for updates on this in the blog..and when the iPad 3 is released, come back and see how accurate this all was.
No custom font embedding in iBooks Author?
Just starting to use iBooks author and noticed that you cannot add custom fonts….
A strange thing I have noticed though, is that if you use a custom font it works on the book title, and also within the little page previews at the bottom, but not within the actual pages.
Come on Apple, make that available in an update please.
